I am not a fan of zombies, and normally this is not a book that I would choose. I decided to try out a few pages, and I absolutely fell in love with it!!! The characters and the story are just brilliant!! Every page you turn, makes you want more…Keith is truly a remarkable writer! I find it hard to believe that this is his first book! I can’t wait to get the entire series in my hand! No matter the genre you are into, I believe you will also fall in love with this story. I highly recommend it!

As a lifelong martial artist, who has often fantasized about surviving in the undead waste, this book was awesome. I found myself deeply empathizing with Kenshiro, as well as understanding how Elliot sees the world and people through his ‘gut instincts’.
The great thing about novels is, you can see into the mind of the author, and I get the sense that Keith is quite an empathetic being who (like me) sees ‘colors’ around people and knows on an intangible level what those colors mean.
Now some notes. I perceived that the entire book takes place over the time span of a few days. I did feel that some parts (mainly Elle) were a bit dragged out, with every action being described in detail. This is not a bad thing per say, as some people (like me) are better able to visualize the scene when given lots of direction. Keith paints the picture so that you don’t have to fill in the blanks. Many authors don’t do this. Again, neither good nor bad, just different. And I loved it.
The action scenes were great, and I found myself re-reading them again and again, making the scene a bit more fantastic each round.
I also saw bits of myself in all of the characters, and found that their actions, particularly Ken and Elliot’s interactions stayed in my head for a long time, prompting me to actually try to ‘be’ more like Kenshiro. Hallmark of a well-built character I suppose.
While I checked this book out from the library, I will likely purchase a copy, if only to support Keith as he (hopefully) transitions away from his day job and gets into writing full time.
